The Next Chapter: Evelyn Araluen on Australia’s literary culture

I think we’ve got a lot to resolve about our
national identity. I think we’ve got a lot to work through about what we feel is our
literary culture, and I think that that’s gonna have to happen with much wider diversity
of voices. You know, diversity in terms of culture, in terms of class, in terms of race
and religion, gender. We’ve got so many people to bring into this conversation and I would
like to see more of it, I would like to see a more serious interrogation of what we actually
want our community and what we want our content to be in this country.
