Peer Review–Doing Great!

Hi, everyone, I normally don’t do something like this so early in the discussion thread, but I wanted to take a moment to let you know that I am very pleased with how the peer review discussion is going so far. For those of you who haven’t gotten your outlines in, don’t worry. You have until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday to submit your outline in progress. It very well may be rough, and we’ll work through that together. What I’ve been most impressed with is your interactions with each other. All four outlines that have been posted already have peer comments on them which is outstanding. To be getting feedback to each other this early in the week, you are truly giving each other the opportunity to make some really great revisions before you submit the final outline to me for a grade on Sunday. And I know that because the bar has been set high this week already, that the rest of you are going to jump in once your outlines are ready to go and you’re going to offer each other some outstanding feedback. And so that’s the other thing I wanted to comment on. I have noticed how personal the feedback is. I know that a lot of times when you have a peer review activity, it’s kind of easy to just check off the boxes but I’m noticing that you’re really taking an interest in what your peers are writing about. And that’s encouraging for them. They love to see that their audience cares about their topic. They love to know that they have an audience at all for their topic, so those really positive and encouraging words that you are giving each other are meaningful. So I encourage you to keep those coming, but, of course, don’t stop with the encouraging words. Offer them specific suggestions. I’m seeing some great questions that you are asking each other. You are giving each other strategies You’re really approaching it as almost brainstorming together and that is absolutely what peer review in this context is about. I encourage you if you are just jumping into this thread, that’s fine that’s great. Take a look at what some of the others have done before you. because they have gotten us off to a pretty solid start. I want you to think about how each of you can contribute your own strengths to the discussion forum this week. So thank you again, and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the week unfolds.
