Doki Doki Literature Club Monika Song

Uh, can you hear me? *Clears throat* Hi! It’s me.. Um.. So.. You know how I’ve been like.. Practicing piano, and stuff.. And, not really any good at it yet, like, At all.. But! I wrote you a song. And, I was kinda hoping that I could show it to you. Cause, I worked really, Really hard on it.. So.. yeah! Every day, I imagine a future where I can be with you. In my hand, Is a pen that will write a poem of me and you. The ink flows down, into a dark puddle.. Just move your hand, write the way into his heart! But in this world of infinite choices.. What will it take, just to find that special day? What will it take, just to find…that special day? *music playing* Have I found, everybody a fun assignment to do today? When you’re here, everything that we do is fun for them anyway.. When I can’t even read my own feelings, What good are words, when a smile says it all And if this world won’t write me an ending, What will it take, just for me to have it all? *more music playing* Does my pen, only write better words for those, who are dear to me? Is it love… if I take you or is it love if I set you free? The ink flows down into a dark puddle, How can I write, love into reality? If I can’t hear the sound of your heartbeat, What do you call, love in your reality? And in your reality, If I don’t know how to love you.. I’ll leave you be. Note Translation: To the special player who achieved this special ending.
For years, I have been enamored by the ability of visual novels – and games in general – to tell stories in ways not possible using traditional media. Doki Doki Literature Club is my love letter to that. Games are an interactive art. Some let you explore new worlds. Some challenge your mind in broad new ways. Some make you feel like a hero or a friend, even when life is hard on you. Some games are just plain fun – and that’s okay, too. Everyone likes different kinds of games. People who enjoy dating sims may have a heightened empathy for fictional characters, or they might be experiencing feelings that life has not been kind enough to offer them. If they are enjoying themselves, then that’s all that matters. That goes for shooting games, casual games, sandbox games – anything. Preferences are preferences, and our differences are the reason we have a thriving video game industry. My own favorite games have always been ones that challenge the status quo. Even if not a masterpiece, any game that attempts something wildly different may earn a special place in my heart. Anything that further pushes the limitless bounds of interactive media.

I extend my true gratitude to all those who have taken the time to achieve full completion. I hope you enjoyed playing it as much and I enjoyed making it.

Thank you for being a part of my Literature Club!

Love,

Dan Salvato

  1. i want to cry. monika is the only one who bothered writing a song for you the entire time you were with the others. you never got to hear her play, and when you do, she did it wholeheartedly. MONIKA BEST GIRL

  2. i panicked because i had my volume up a little too high and i went to turn it down but it just went up 😮

  3. It’s actually heartwarming that we actually get to hear Monika’s voice. Hearing her sing is sort of bittersweet. Yeah she was a villain, but she eventually realized what she was doing was wrong and wanted to fix it. She’s not a villain in whole, she’s just hurt.

  4. I imagine Monika with another voice really. Whenever I watch mods I just imagine other voices in my head for every character.

  5. Poor Monika! All she wanted was to love and be loved by someone real! I cried when I had to delete to her!😭😭😭😭😭

  6. tbh when I downloaded the game, I thought it was just a normal dating sim and Monika was my fav character until the game was practically screaming in your face 'MONIKA IS A NUTJOB!!!!!!!!!!!' I still like Monika the best though, she's adorable :3

  7. I want everyone to be happy in Doki Doki, but it seems impossible since no matter what she makes herself disappear and refuses to return

  9. All people here in a bad relationship u should practice the song and read it to your lover 🙂🙂👫👫

  10. i feel really sad…
at the begin, i thought Monika was a spooky bitch but after all, she did it because she loved the player and she wanted to do her best :((

  11. I THOUGHT MONIKA IS IN MY PHONE BECAUSE THE SCREEN IS BLACK AND SHE IS TALKING but is just the video…

  12. I'm about to burst out in tears. Monika is my favorite character anyway. She just wants you to love her.

  13. Doki Doki Literature Club is a game that tells Monika's love that is not conveyed.

    ( I T H I N K L U L : V )

  14. My heart is singing, but my eyes are crying.
Even after seeing all these anime chicks dying.
Even after all those times monika was lying.
    And my best friends betrayal,
    And her suicide too.
    Why is my heart screaming
Is this what love is like to you?

  15. If Thanos finished this game,

    Gamora: "Did you do it?"
    Thanos: "Yes"
    Gamora: "What did it cost?"
    Thanos: "Just Monika."

  16. Before i was going to switch the video off, my mouse kept on going back to the same spot. it freaked me out and reminded me of the time where you had to choose monika in the game.

  17. I laid down in my bed at 4 in the morning listening to this staring at the ceiling crying while not moving a muscle

  18. I never played DDLC until now. I finished it today when I found it while looking at horror games. All I can say is that this game is so well done. This song brought me to tears and that shows how much this game makes you care. Just…wow. No other game can make you feel that way.

  19. God if only they made a dlc where you can be with Monika. This song actually makes me sad. Seeing how Monika just wanted to be with us, but the game was forcing us to be with the other girls. I’ve literally grown not only attached to the characters, but to Monika specifically. I wish there was more we could do with her. I love Monika

  20. If there is one thing that's makes weak, is when someone makes a deep song for me. I know that it's a game, but holy crap this song is emotional and makes me think about Monika whenever I hear another sad song, and I played this game for like 4 hours. Nice One Salvato

  21. To be honest monika was innocet she didint rlly want to do that erasing them yuri was the onee controlong them even tho yuri. Died she wasnt dead she was still alive

  22. By the way monika is the best charther and the rlly happy one i have a thory tho that 3veryone in the club was stealing monikas life her thats why the 3 girl were trying to not get close to monika

  23. shes the only one that bothered to learn and write a song only for you while you were with the other girls, just seeing all those memories being deleted one by one because she knew whats best for you. " just let it be"

  24. "ill let it be " that was the hardest choice for her to do but she still did it only for you….we know that its just written in the dialogue but this game makes you feel like everything really happened by a new virtual life form that has gained consciousness.Oh well… lets just leave it be.

  25. Monika is cool. Even tho she did all that bad shit she came back and saved you. My Respect has been earned

  26. Damn Monika… I can't help but feel sad whenever I think about her, and yes, I know it's just a game but It really got into my heart, felt loved lol, Monika is the best ♡

  27. So I played ddlc and then, like two days later I was like making a thing with some pictures on my laptop…THERE WAS A PICTURE OF FRICKING MONIKA! I DIDN'T TAKE IT!!

(it was when she is sitting in the room looking into your eyes)

  28. I feel terrible. I wish theres was a way to bring her back. I tried to copy her file and bring it into the character files, modify it to say "monika.chr" instead of "monika.copy.chr" and it didn't work. So sad. 🙁

  29. Everyone before the credits: Monika is evil

Everyone after the credits: Monika is an adorable cinnamon roll and must be protected

  30. Monika is best girl and don't tell me she isn't. Ok, she deleted all the other Dokis, but it was just because how much she loved you. She just wanted to spend time with you. She even wrote a fricking song for you, dammit!

    Edit:Thx 4 the ❤️

  31. Okay, I figured out how to save monika. Turn her file into a text file, and then write a happy ending in that.

  32. If I'm completely honest, I sympathize with Monika the most. I know people call her evil because she deleted all her friends, but how would you feel if you were aware that you were just a character in a dating simulator? In a dating simulator that didn't want you to be a love interest?

Sayori's character didn't call for as much sympathy/empathy as people give:

Sayori was depressed yes, many people are, but she wasn't too bad until Monika started messing with her to try to stop her from having a chance with you. She was chipper and hyper and she fought through it well. She didn't even cut or do anything like that. If she did, we all know Monika would've made her obnoxiously suicidal.

[Not to be rude towards people who are suicidal, I mean as in she always talks about how sad she is all the time and how much she hates life and how much she wants to kill herself.]

Natsuki's character was extremely sympathy/empathy worthy, but not pathetically:

Natsuki's father didn't treat her well, it's obvious, which lead to her being malnourished and closed off to a lot of people. Even the people who she calls friends. She was technically the only truly normal one, Monika didn't have a trait of hers to enhance to make her less of a love interest. She just made her scary.

    Yuri's character didn't deserve too much sympathy/empathy:

Yuri was suicidal as hell, as are many people. She cut herself with a kitchen knife she *carries on her person*. Now, I completely understand if cutting makes you feel better in some way, physical pain to counteract the emotional and mental pain [I believe], but in the many interventions I've been in with people who have cut they aren't open to it, and they don't find it as pleasuring as Yuri did. Definitely not enough to write an entire intricate poem about it and give it to another person to read. [Like, I get if poetry is your way of venting, but to give it to another person to read? That doesn't sit right with me.]
